Addressing this issue, Philippe Claude Millieret’s legal advisor, I Nyoman Wirajaya, S.H., M.H., had the opportunity to provide a detailed statement. The issue stemmed from Julian’s frequent delays in rent payments and other obligations, except for the first payment. The deed clearly outlined their respective rights and obligations. Furthermore, Julian Petroulas began using the land by constructing a road foundation without the coordination and approval of the Subak, which violated Balinese customary law by blocking an irrigation channel.
And when the Subak requested a modest donation of 10 million rupiah, Julian accused them of harassment and refused to continue their commitment, personally insulting their members. He then used this as an excuse for his second breach of contract. In his first breach, instead of blaming the Subak, Julian accused the same landowners he now publicly describes as “fellow victims” of harassment and blamed Philippe Claude Millieret for sharing Julian Petroulas’s cell phone number with landowners who wanted to meet him, thus violating the sacred foundation of Tri Hita Karana (THK), which emphasizes harmony between humans, nature, and God. In a rare act of solidarity, both the Subak and the landowners agreed to testify in support of Philippe Claude Millieret, completely contradicting Julian Petroulas’s public accusations and the fabricated narrative in the media.
